RESPONSIBLE FARMING PRACTICES
PACKAGING
Windmeul Eggs embarked on an #Eggceptional journey to reduce the plastic in our product range. Our goal is to be rid of plastic by 2020. Currently 90% of our packaging is recyclable as opposed to 2018 when only 40% was recyclable. We feel very strongly about this campaign and hope that other egg companies’ will follow suit.
SOLAR
In 2008 we realised the significant impact our electricity usage had on the environment and decided to venture into solar power. Aside from the benefits of solar electricity are quite significant to Windmeul Eggs, as a family business we are always looking for new ways to preserving the environment.
TREE-PLANTING
Every year we plant more than 100 trees on our farms. We love our trees, and so do our #Eggceptional Free-Range birds. Their favourite thing to do when roaming outside is to play in and under these trees.
RECYCLING WATER
We understand that, as an agri-business, what we do has a lasting impact on our planet and our industry. Since we use water in production and the pack station, we now recycle water and reuse for irrigation. This process works #Eggceptionally well and our busy farm allows us now to use little or no water from our boreholes.
